How is Breast Augmentation performed?
There are several approaches to the placement of prostheses. One is the periareolar approach, i.e., along the lower edge of the areola; another is the inframammary incision, in which the incision is placed in the lower breast fold.
The periumbilical approach has been described but requires saline-inflatable prostheses.
The surgery takes 2 to 3 hours.
General anesthesia is used.
The disability is outpatient.
A quick recovery of 7 to 12 days is expected.
